How it started

Veda Vana began from a personal search for something we could truly trust.

I grew up in China, where functional mushrooms were never a trend. They were part of daily life. My mother simmered Cordyceps in soup, brewed Reishi in the evenings, and prepared Tremella as nourishment. These were quiet, ordinary rituals, food meant to support the body gently over time.

When I moved to New York, and later to Amsterdam, I was surprised by how difficult it was to find products that felt safe and sincere. Much of what was available focused on appearance and promises, but not on substance. As someone who had struggled with food-triggered autoimmune issues, I became careful about what I consumed, and often chose to avoid what I couldn’t fully trust.

Around the same time, Lex was searching for an alternative to coffee. The stimulation, crashes, and strain on his body no longer felt sustainable. We began exploring functional mushrooms together, hoping to find something clean, calm, and reliable.

We couldn’t find it.

So we decided to create it ourselves.

Veda Vana was born out of that shared need, not to build a brand, but to make something honest. Products we personally use. Products we feel comfortable sharing. Simple blends, rooted in tradition, made with care.

This is where our work begins.

How we work

We don’t believe more is better.
We believe clearer is better.

Every decision we make starts with the same question: Would we feel comfortable using this every day ourselves? If the answer isn’t a quiet yes, we don’t move forward.

We work with a small number of ingredients, chosen for their history, character, and how they are traditionally used, not for trends or quick effects. Our blends are designed to fit into daily life gently, without pushing the body or demanding attention.

That means no fillers, no unnecessary additives, and no overstimulation. Just clean extracts, prepared with care, meant to be taken consistently over time.

We also choose to move slowly. We prefer long-term relationships over fast scaling, and depth over volume. This allows us to stay close to the sourcing, the people involved, and the quality of what we offer.

Veda Vana is built around restraint, respect, and intention, so the product can remain simple, and the experience can stay honest.

What we stand for

Integral sourcing

We source our mushrooms from traditional Dao Di (道地) regions in China, places where they have been cultivated with care and intention for generations. This isn’t about trends or speed. It’s about working with origins that have proven themselves over time, both culturally and practically.

No compromises on quality

We choose ingredients the same way we choose food for our own table. Only the parts of the mushroom we truly believe in. No fillers. No shortcuts. No unnecessary additions. Quality, to us, is not a feature. It’s a baseline.

For our families and yours

We drink our blends every day. We share them with our parents. That is the standard we work from. When something becomes part of a daily ritual, trust matters more than bold claims or clever marketing.

Respect for nature, in action

Respecting nature means making thoughtful choices, even when they’re less convenient. We use recyclable tins instead of plastic and work with partners who care for the land they grow on. Not because it sounds good, but because it’s the right thing to do.
